Our Obedience Dogs
As you go through the obedience dogs you will notice that there are quite a
few that heave their championships but look like puppies. that is because
they were puppies when they obtained their titles. I do believe in
training early and getting manners and control. This in no way affects
their show ring personality as anyone who has every watched my dogs compete
can tell you. It does however make them better house pets that have
manners when company comes. Most of my personal dogs have their C.D.'s by
the time they are a year old and I really enjoy that puppy attitude when
they know what you want and are busting their buttons to show it off.

Housebreaking
When house breaking always have a pet carrier handy for the times you
can't watch your puppy. Above all get everyone in the family involved in
the process. Always use positive reenforcement in potty training. If
you did not see it happen it did not happen. Puppy learns nothing from
you sticking his nose in his mess and spanking except it wasn't a good
place to stick his nose and he already knew that.
Most people want their puppy to bark and let them know when they need to
go outside and they are just not old enough to do that. Most stand at
the door until you realize they are there. Short cut this with a big cow
or jingle bell you can get from any hobby shop and teach him how to ring
the bell. They catch on very quick and it sure saves the paint on your
door and can be heard even if you are in the other room.
Remember above all "POSITIVE REENFORCEMENT" which means treats !!
