Pet Therapy

Mikey and Catty did eight hours a week of pet therapy at our local state school P.T. department. We had some wonderful break throughs while we were there. A thirty year old man spoke the first words in his life and they were dog commands because the dogs thrilled him so. He couldn't throw the dumbbell but he could say "over" and "fetch".

Catty, because of her age, spent most of her time lying on tables and being petted while patents had their therapy. Needless to say she really enjoyed her job.

I guess the big thing was the hours they spent having their pictures made with the public all dressed up for Christmas so we could raise money for presents for the patients at the school. The cold might not have bothered the dogs but it was sure stressful on the humans !!
